Mondays, September 19 – November 7, 7 – 8:15 pm
Victoria Men’s Yoga with Loren Crawford, Yoga Teacher

Gay men and male allies are welcome to join this yoga class series.

For 8 weeks we will journey together exploring both the physical and metaphysical aspects of yoga.

Each class will include

  • An opening discussion on the class’s theme, for example, using yoga to build vitality;
  • An all-levels physical practice that embodies the theme including yoga poses and other techniques;
  • A final relaxation;
  • Breathwork; and
  • Concluding meditation

Yes, we will cover all of that in 75 minutes!

What you need

  • Bring a yoga mat and ideally a yoga block and a strap or belt
  • Bring a small towel (especially if you are a sweater)
  • Bring a bottle of water
  • Wear comfortable, stretchy clothes
  • Complete the yoga waiver for 1st class (available when you register)

 We will explore three key ideas and discuss their relevance and usefulness for navigating the travails of modern life:

  1. The dangerous phenomenon of mass-mindedness – what it is, how it can be used to mobilize masses, and how we can avoid being inadvertently recruited into the service of those with malicious aims.
  2. Jung’s claim of “religion as the counter-balance to mass-mindedness” – not as doctrine and creed, but as a deeply personal intrapsychic response to the experience of the numinous Self, or imago Dei.
  3. Self-knowledge and what it means to be conscious of the unconscious- the moral problem of managing the shadow.
