Sunday, November 8, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Free DVD showing, silent sitting, dialogue, and refreshments.
Facilitator:  David Bruneau

These meetings on the second Sunday of the month from 2:00 to 5:00 pm are sponsored by the Krishnamurti Educational Centre of Canada.  J. Krishnamurti, the world-renowned 20th century philosopher and educator, has written and lectured extensively on relevant subjects such as freedom, love, truth, and meditation.  His ability to tackle these themes with great honesty and insight has helped many to see themselves and the world around them in a new way. The focus is on self understanding through self inquiry and includes contemporary teachers other than Krishnamurti.  The gatherings will include a short video clip of “K” speaking on a chosen topic, a printed handout from his book “Freedom From the Known”, which will be read at the meeting, and a group discussion. This type of discussion is seen by some as purposeful awareness of the goings on of the mind while a chosen topic is being looked at. This allows us to listen to others and observe ourselves in the process of discovering each subject anew and with clarity, as though encountering it and ourselves for the first time, and to share our spontaneous insight as it arises… Thus, this is an invitation to learn about ourselves and to act on our new discoveries.  There will be a short break for refreshments and then a video will be shown of another spiritual teacher such as Eckhart Tolle, Mooji, Rupert Spira, or Scott Kiloby – the specific person may vary each time – speaking on the same subject.  Finally, there will be another opportunity for group dialogue as time allows.  There is no charge for these events.

November 13-14, 2015, Friday 1:30 – 9:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am – 4:30 pm,
Bill Israel, Certified INTENSIVE JOURNAL Facilitator

Your life unfolds as a personal and enduring legacy. It is the gift of YOU to your family, close friends, community and the world.  It is the only life you have and it is unique in the universe. Weaving together the satisfaction of your achievements, the scars of defeat, disappointments and loss, your life emerges as a living “tapestry”.

The Intensive Journal® (IJ) process is a guide to revealing the ongoing narrative of your life.   It is a meditative exploration of your holistic self, prepared in a personal journal process.  Who are you now with your family and friends, in your work and in your social circumstances?  From your personal history, this meditative process can be the artistic expression of your life-work.

Through a private, compassionate self-inquiry you will assemble the STEPPINGSTONES of your history into a personal TESTAMENT, evoking your best self in the creative, forward movement of your life.  No writing experience or expertise is required as the IJ process is very private.

Friday 1:30 pm to 4:30; Dinner break; 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Saturday 9:00 am to 12 noon; Lunch break; 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm.

Please register by November 06, 2015 by calling Bill at (250) 744-0590; or e.mail billisrael06@gmail.com Bill’s website is billisrael.org;  The international website for the program is www.intensivejournal.org

Sunday, October 4th, 6:00 – 9:00pm
Kundalini Pranayama Workshop with Gong Relaxation
Facilitator: Dawn Rabey, PhD, RCC, E-RYT-500

In these workshops (Sept 15th & Oct 4th) you will learn and practice unique pranayama/breath patterns that are useful for shifting mental, emotional, and physiological states that we all encounter (such as anxiety, worry, restlessness, depression, low energy, insomnia, weak metabolism, addictions, dissociation, and self-doubt). These time-tested and effective practices are from the science and technology of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. We will also practice different breath techniques to balance the vayus (winds) and tattvas (elements), adjust the magnetic field, clarify the subtle body, and stimulate the pituitary.

In addition, the workshop will begin and end with 20-25 minutes of Gong relaxation with a 32″ Symphonic Gong. The playing of the Gong is an integral aspect of Kundalini Yoga – it brings the brain waves to the Theta state which promotes healing, releases subconscious blocks, and increases access to creativity.

No experience is necessary, though a meditation, yoga, or pranayama/breath practice will deepen your experience. You can attend one or both of the workshops on Sept 15th and Oct 4th (the pranayamas taught will be different for each one). The cost is $45.00 each, or $70.00 for both.

FALLING OPEN with Adam Chacksfield An evening Satsang (meditation, talk, and dialogue)

This evening event will be an opportunity for those who have not yet sat with Adam to witness and feel the deep presence he brings to his gatherings; and for those who joined Adam in Victoria when he visited us last year, an occasion to refresh their delight. Adam is also offering a more in depth retreat here in Victoria the following weekend June 19 to 21.

Adam shares the direct experience of the heart and mind falling open in a down to earth, unassuming, and unwavering way. In this effortless opening the suffering involved in resisting feelings and believing thoughts spontaneously releases. The natural abundance of joy, peace, wisdom, and love becomes apparent and available.

Adam currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. He originally began offering nondual teaching with the encouragement and support of Peter Fenner. His work has also been greatly influenced by the heart-centered teaching of Jeannie Zandi.

For local information or to pre-register for the weekend (highly recommended) email John Gehrke at fallingopeninvictoria@gmail.com or call 250 978 1006.

Easter Monday, April 6th – 1 pm to 3 pm
“Headless in Victoria” – Celebrating who you really, really are!

Over the past 60 years a truly contemporary and Western way of ‘seeing into one’s Nature’ or ‘Enlightenment’ has been developing. Though in essence the same as Zen, Sufism, and other spiritual disciplines, this way proceeds in an unusually down-to-earth fashion. It claims that modern man is more likely to see Who he really is in a minute of active experimentation than in years of reading, lecture-attending, thinking, ritual observances, and passive meditation of the traditional sort. Instead of these, it uses a variety of simple, non-verbal, fact-finding tests, all of them asking: how do I look to myself? They direct my attention to my blind spot – to the space I occupy, to what’s given right here at the Centre of my universe, to what it’s like being 1st-person singular, present tense.

HYAV (Hatha Yoga association of Victoria) presents a talk by Swami Asokanada, one of Integral Yoga’s most senior presenters of The Path of the Heart: The Practice of Bhakti Yoga

Yoga explores how we can overcome the mental conditioning (samskaras) that keep us stuck in a limited consciousness and false understanding of who we are. We can use our will power and intellect to make some progress, but they can only take us so far. The power of the path of devotion—Bhakti Yoga—is that by bringing the heart in our practice, it can melt even the hardest, most stubborn ego. By forming a living relationship with the Divine, we open ourselves up to the great Power that resides at our core, beneath the mental realm.

Open to the public: admission by donation (suggested 20$)
